Overview
Every FungiTastic observation comes with rich tabular metadata describing not just the specimen, but also its context and collection details.
Fields Included
- Observation date: yyyy-mm-dd, plus year, month, and day columns.
- EXIF camera metadata: exposure, color space, device type, etc.
- Habitat: E.g., Mixed woodland, Deciduous woodland (32 options).
- Substrate: Where the specimen grows (e.g., Bark, Soil, Stone).
- Taxonomic labels: Full hierarchy from species up to kingdom.
- Toxicity status: Edible or poisonous (binary label).
- Geolocation: Latitude, longitude, plus region/district/country.
- Biogeographical zone: Atlantic, Continental, Alpine, etc.
- Elevation: Standardized meters above sea level.
- Land cover: Classification from MODIS (e.g., savanna, barren).
Usage Notes
- Nearly all observations (>99.9%) have full metadata.
- Metadata is crucial for multi-modal learning, habitat modeling, and context-aware classification.
